Tagattitude Mobile Payment Alliance

Next week Tagattitude will be showing off TagPay at the Mobile Money Transfer Conference and Expo in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Our focus will be on TagPay's "Cashless Money Transfer" feature and the ways in which it changes the rules of money transfer.

For the first time, Tagattitude's client M-Peso, will present their case study of how they have used the TagPay platform to roll-out mobile payment and money transfer services in Central America.

M-Peso Case Study Highlights

M-Peso is the first mobile money transfer and mobile payment service to have launched in Central America. During the MMT event, M-Peso CEO Haroldo Montealegre will share his experience rolling out a truly comprehensive set of mobile-enabled financial services in a market with under 30% financial inclusion.

Haroldo Montealegre's presentation will highlight the unique business model M-Peso has adopted, a business model that is indifferent to the banks and telecom operators and has successfully overcome the challenges of regulatory compliance.

The case study will also cover M-Peso's strategy for building an acquiring network of merchants who accept M-Peso in their point of sale.

How Cashless Money Transfer Changes the Rules

Tagattitude's Microbanking platform, TagPay, goes beyond offering "traditional" cash-in/cash-out money transfers. The TagPay system allows the recipient of a money transfer the possibility of spending the funds received in stores, on the web, or transferring them along to others. This gives recipients of a transfer complete flexibility as to how much and where they want to use the funds they receive.

The recent Smart Card Technology International article "Bringing Mobile Money to the Point of Sale", highlights the value of the cashless money transfer model. The article argues that today "nearly all mobile money is “cashed out” to then be spent on various goods and services" and that "introducing retail transactions completely changes the mobile money business model as well as the value proposition for end users."

See the Cashless Money Transfer Cartoon for a story of how the money transfer experience is fundamentally different with TagPay.

In the story, a husband needs to send his wife money to buy medicine. Without TagPay, they endure a long, risky, and expensive process to get the money and buy medicine. With TagPay, we see how simple, secure, and painless it is to get the money and buy medicine with it.
