VSA in Action

Using an audio one-time password imparts a very high level of security to VSA™ for the following reasons:

  • First, the customer’s mobile phone has to be present in the chain of events because the AUDIO-OTP has a very short life. As a result, recording or copying AUDIO-OTPs is useless to hackers.
  • Second, the AUDIO-OTP provides extra resilience to phishing frauds that collect user information using a fake authentication form—particularly if the VSA is constructed in such a way that the AUDIO-OTP authentication is a prerequisite to password entry.
  • Third, no error is possible because the TagXess signal processing engine verifies the AUDIO-OTP integrity, (CRC+FEC).
  • Fourth, the AUDIO-OTP can be any size that is required for the ultimate security desired. Presently, the TagXess standard AUDIO-OTP is 250 milliseconds long and contains 55 bits of information.
